Heart and Hand Soaps is based in sunny Central Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. It grew out of my passion for nature & simplicity. I’ve always loved making things from scratch, whether that be grinding grain for bread, growing organic vegetables, or making our own herbal remedies . Making soap feels like a natural progression of everything that has gone before and it enables me to incorporate my passion for herbs into an end product I love. I enjoy every aspect of soap making – selecting luscious oils & butters, creating unique essential oil & fragrance blends and even cutting, stamping and packaging it :).
Most things in our world today are instant, however artisan products embrace the old ways and take time..like all good things. When I hold the finished bar in my hand, I feel a sense of inner joy over its beauty, wholesomeness & sheer simplicity.
My philosophy for Heart & Hand, is to keep things as natural, & sustainable as possible. Our soaps are made using the traditional cold process method, which requires 4 – 6 weeks for each bar of soap to cure. This produces a lovely firm bar of natural soap. We use a range of different vegetable based oils & butters in our soaps & Castor Oil for extra luxury. The finished soap retains all of its natural glycerine from the plant oils leaving the skin wonderfully soft and moisturised. I use flowers & herbs in the soaps from my own organic garden along with specialty clays, milks, essential oils & special fragrance blends.
We’ve received wonderful feedback from satisfied customers with sensitive skin who claim our soaps don’t cause their skin to dry out or become itchy, like commercially produced soap can!!
The name Heart & Hand came about through my love of Plain Christian Communities around the world. The Shakers have a saying: ‘Hands to Work, Hearts to God’. That saying struck a chord in my spirit and reflects the way I approach life. My prayer is that Heart & Hand products will be a delight to your senses and your skin. All Heart and Hand products are made in a clean, smoke-free, and humble home environment.
Charity: We like to give to others in need, whether that be a charity group or ministry within New Zealand or overseas; normally through one off donations. So far Heart and Hand has been able to help various individuals, Orphan Aid International & Pre-emptive Love. So if the Lord places an idea on your heart, go for it !!. You may be able to bless others through the work of your hands too 🙂
Blessings ~ Linda
